The Rollercoaster of Womanhood- Looking At It From A Different Angle

Posted by

From our teenage years all the way to, well, let’s just say mature age, we experience changes that can be so wild!

1. Puberty: The Teenage Shocker

Remember the days when you were just minding your business, living your pre-teen life, when suddenly—bam—things started happening? Those awkward moments when your body decided it was time for an upgrade and you had absolutely no say in the matter?

Breasts? Sure, let’s just grow them overnight like we’re turning into superheroes. Periods? Surprise! It’s like your body says, “Welcome to womanhood. Hope you like monthly inconveniences!” And let’s not forget the fun of acne, mood swings, and growing pains. Puberty is like the ultimate surprise party, but instead of cake, you get hormonal chaos and a few spots on your face.

2. The Wonder of Menstruation

Every month, without fail, like clockwork, our bodies remind us that we’re still alive… by making us feel like we’re walking through a personal horror show. You’ll get cramps that feel like an angry dragon is attacking your lower abdomen, while your brain spirals through a series of emotional states—sometimes in under an hour. One minute you’re crying and the next minute your laughing, it can be a rollercoaster at times! But know you are not alone.

Then that passes and then BAM another month comes along and the same process repeats itself. I know for me anyways I only have one week where my emotions are *Stable* and even at that I could cry and laugh in the same minute!

Throughout these changes, not only are we experiencing a whirlwind of emotions but our physical bodies start to change shape, size, structure and everything in between… which leads me to our next topic…

3. Pregnancy: The Ultimate Body Transformation

Swollen ankles, constant trips to the bathroom, heartburn that feels like a dragon is breathing fire into your chest, and the emotional rollercoaster of wondering if you’ll ever sleep again.

And those cravings? When you find yourself eating orange peelings at 2am, you know something is changing inside you!

But hey, despite the craziness, there’s no denying the power of growing a human. And the best part? Once the baby arrives, you’ll soon forget all about those late-night snack binges because you’re now faced with sleep deprivation and nappies! How fun! I am not even a mother but i can only imagine!

We recommend getting fitted for your nursing bra as late as you can leave it and then again about 6 weeks after you have your new born. This ensures that your bras are still fitting you comfortably and there may be a few changes to your size/style along the way but that’s okay too!

4. The 30s

This ‘stage’ is when you actually start to notice ‘anti-wrinkle’ creams and start looking more at your face for those grey chin hairs! Trust me it happens to the best of us.

But, with every wrinkle and grey hair, you begin to realize the amazing thing about your 30s: You really don’t care as much about what people think. You know what works for you. You start investing in some amazing skincare products, and maybe, just maybe, you get a little bit better at saying “no” without feeling guilty.

And throughout all of these changes you still should get a bra fitting every months! Even if you feel your still the same size. Maybe the style of bra you wear will have changed depending on the changes that happens throughout your body!

5. The 40s and Beyond

Ah, the 40s. Here’s where it gets interesting—mostly because now you have a lot of knowledge to go along with your physical changes. Your body is still doing its thing, but it’s no longer pretending it’s 20. At this point, you’ve probably given up on trying to wear skinny jeans (or maybe you’re just doing it for comfort) and have fully embraced the magic of cosy, stretchy tracksuit bottoms.

At this stage, you may experience perimenopause, the prequel to the main event: menopause. Hot flashes, mood swings and a wholeeeee lot of giving out! But that’s the beauty of growing older.

Menopause: The grand finale

Plot twist of all plot twists. It’s that stage of life when your body decides to stop having periods altogether, and your hormones enter a phase of rebellion. While it can come with some uncomfortable symptoms like hot flashes (so many hot flashes), mood swings (don’t mind me, I’m just throwing a mini tantrum), and night sweats (hello, wet sheets), there’s one thing menopause gives you in return: freedom. No more periods. No more worrying about accidentally getting pregnant.

So here’s to growing old gracefully together and with all it comes with. We have got this ! Live, Laugh and Most Importantly Love Yourself!
